Project Description

The ETindex is an assembly of economic and quality of life data for an eight county area in East Tennessee. This tool provides a means for citizens, non-profits, foundations and local governments to monitor major trends in the region and serves as a starting point for conversations about ways that our communities can be made stronger and more livable. At its launch, the site contains 78 indicators, featuring an analysis, a chart showing the trend over time, data tables and in some cases, interactive maps. Data are shown at regional, county and often city scales. Eight additional data indicators will be added in the coming weeks. All data were compiled from publicly available sources, including state and federal agencies as well as universities and others. The project was born out of the Plan East Tennessee process, with the ETindex designed to serve as a platform to monitor the long-term outcomes associated with PlanET’s goals. The site was also designed for other regional organizations to leverage the objective data the site contains by hyperlinking to interactive data dashboards and agency specific indicator report cards. These features help organizations requiring the similar data, but lacking either the resources or expertise collect, maintain and distribute it. More information and further announcements about the ETindex site will be coming soon.
