Project Description

The Ready By 21 Coalition of Central Texas (RB21) is a unique partnership of agencies, organizations and individuals who share a common vision for the well-being of children and youth in Central Texas (Greater Austin/Travis County area). RB21 developed the RB21 Dashboard, which currently tracks 25 indicators of children and youth well-being. RB21 Dashboard outcomes and indicators were collectively defined by over 100 individuals from over 60 local agencies and continue to be reviewed, analyzed and refined for improved shared understanding of the community's progress and potential solutions for moving the needle toward positive outcomes for children and youth across the region. The RB21 outcome areas and indicators are utilized to channel and organize data in the online Youth Services Mapping (YSM) system (ysm-austin.org) to give the community a better understanding of the youth services located across the region and the strategic outcomes they are working toward, and this information is used for community-wide planning and analysis.

What framework does this project use if any?

Awards and Recognitions:

Achievements: In Central Texas, the City, County and Austin Independent School District (AISD) are all utilizing the RB21 framework and YSM data in some form for strategic planning and analysis of community-wide efforts to improve child and youth outcomes. There is also growing interest among local funders and systems planning groups as they are becoming aware of the RB21 Dashboard and YSM as relevant tools for organizing and catalyzing efforts. Workforce Solution - Capital Area Workforce Board has funded the facilitator for the RB21 Coalition of Central Texas since 2003. In 2013, the City of Austin funded a half-time researcher to ensure the RB21 Dashboard remains updated from year to year, and AISD has sustained funding since 2007 for the YSM system. RB21 partners closely with the Community Advancement Network in convening stakeholders to catalyze community-wide action.
