Project Description

"KIDS COUNT is a national and state-by-state effort to track the status of children in the United States. KIDS COUNT exists to measure child outcomes and to contribute to public accountability for those outcomes, resulting in a model for data-driven advocacy for children and families. A project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, this initiative provides policymakers and citizens with national and comparable benchmarks of child well-being. By providing these indicators, KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state, and national discussions of ways to secure better futures for all children. It is intended to gauge the seriousness of the problems facing children and guide the policy trends and goals on behalf of children. The Annie E. Casey Foundation funds a KIDS COUNT project in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Kentucky Youth Advocates, the Kentucky KIDS COUNT grantee, provides a detailed county-by-county picture of the condition of children."
