Project Description

Kids Count in MIchigan seeks to improve the status of children and their families by collecting and disseminating data as a basis for public policy development and community action. The Michigan League for Human Services publishes an annual data book of county profiles of trends in child well-being as well as an annual review of maternal and infant health for communities with population over 25,000 and all 83 counties. The project provides county and community data to the national KIDS COUNT interactive Data Center. Project staff, including project partner Michigan's Children, also conduct an ongoing public education campaign to encourage data-driven advocacy and decision-making.
