Project Description

Metro Outlook focuses on the economic competitiveness of the Kansas City Region. It relies on information from earlier reports to create a set of measurable goals that would foster regions that could compete in the global marketplace. The report creates a model to show what qualities of a metropolitan area most attract, and retain, talented and economically competitive citizens. The types of indicator areas focused on in the report are more unconventional and narrow than other projects: Inherent Attractiveness of Place, Social Cohesion, Strategic Decision Making Capacity, Institutional Performance, Human Capacity, Economic Competitiveness, and Efficient Use of Resources.

Awards and Recognitions:

Community Indicators – Performance Measures Integration

Does this project have Community Indicators?: Yes
The indicators show the region's progress in achieving its goals. The report compares the region's performance against two different types of standards. First, they compare the region against a set of peer metropolitan areas drawn from cluster analysis by the Brookings Institution in CEOs for Cities: The Changing Dynamics of Urban America. Second, the indicators examine the region against itself either by looking at trends or by using maps of particular characteristics to identify geographic areas of strength and weakness.

Does this project have Performance Measures?: No

Has this project integrated Community Indicators and Performance Measures?: No
